About Afilm


About Afilm Camp:

  We are so excited to work alongside of WorkPlay to bring "Afilm Camp" to Birmingham, Al. Summer Camp will be held at WorkPlay (downtown Birmingham, Al) for 10 weeks during the summer of 2019! Afilm Camp is exactly what it sounds like!  Your students will work together with other students their age to create a short film and in the process learn about filmmaking!

About the team:

  Our entire staff has been fully vetted with background checks and meet the highest standards of character!  We are a small but dedicated crew that is working very hard to prepare the best experience for your students this summer.


Scott Ross

  Scott was one of the original founders of Student Life Camps. Student Life became on of the nations largest youth camps.  Scott lead the Production team of Student Life  to create content for over 50,000 students each summer for over a decade.

Following his time at Student Life, Scott went to work at Hunter Films based at Workplay in Birmingham, AL.  At Workplay, Scott produced high end content for Music Artists including Maroon5, Colin Hay (of Men at Work), David Wilcox, Monte Montgomery and many more.  In addition, Scott worked with the Academy award Nominated Short Film producers Alan and Hugh Hunter.  Hunter Films developed content for Film, Television and Corporate Applications.  During his time with Hunter Films Scott produced over 40 short films and went on to work in the Post production department on several distributed films.

Scott will be bringing all of his experience to Afilm Camp and hopes to encourage students to take the chance to follow their dreams.


Matt Bayley


  Matt has been in a position of leadership in the corporate world for the last 14 years. His corporate background has allowed him to develop professionals as well as other members of training & a wide range of leadership positions. He has written out entire training programs for over 30+ retail stores. In addition to Matt's team building background in the professional world, Matt has also done a multitude of community volunteer work, mostly with children. Matt has worked with  Juvenile Detention Centers, Elementary Schools, under-privileged children, Children's Theater Workshops, Kids Church Services, drama & theater, Children's group homes and creating Instructional/training videos for youth.  The blend of both the left and right side of his brain power make Matt ideal for the role he has taken on as a founder of Afilm Camp.
